Whole-home remodel in Santaluz

The house she nearly walked away from

The homeowner contacted us while she was in escrow on this Santaluz house and gathering bids for the remodel she had in mind. Every bid had come back high.

When we sent our proposal, she thanked us and told us she had nearly backed out of escrow because the remodel was beyond her budget.

We went on to remodel much of the house. In the kitchen we kept the existing cabinets and painted them, finished the island in its own color, and added new counters, a new backsplash, new hardware and two pendants over the island.

The primary bath received a freestanding tub under the window, a new tiled shower over a hot-mopped pan, a niche by the tub and another in the shower, and new tile on the tub wall and the floor. We also remodeled the wet bar, the laundry room and the half bath, and painted the interior.

Wood floors went into the living and dining rooms, the hallways and the sitting room, and tile into the kitchen, the hall to the garage, the laundry room and the half bath. Before the wood could go down, we scraped off a loose slip sheet that had been glued to the slab.

In the living room, two large round chandeliers replaced the ceiling fans. Along the way we stained the inside of the front door, added a chandelier at the entry and relocated the TV outlet above the fireplace.

The finished remodel is beautiful, and she was very happy with it. She was a great client to work with.

A neighbor saw the work and hired us to draw plans for an addition to his house.
